SeligSIM 2024.5 Now Available
I'm announcing the release of SeligSIM 2024.5, a major new version of the simulator. Here are some highlights:
You can have both SeligSIM 2024.5 and SeligSIM 2024 on your system simultaneously.
The new version installs in a separate folder, directly to “C:\SeligSIM 2024.5” by default.
Installation no longer requires administrator privileges, making it more user-friendly. This is a standard user installation.
Bundles in all prior updates and more to come.
To install, locate the downloaded file ending in “.iso”. Right-click on this file and select “mount”. It will appear as a DVD drive on your computer. Find the installer in this new drive, and double-click to start the installation. As with previous versions, Windows might ask for your permission during installation and when you run the program.
For those interested in the technical details, this new version makes it easier for users who create custom modifications (“mods”) to work with the simulator’s files and folders. It also simplifies my process for maintaining updates and downloadable content (DLC).
Improved Portability
SeligSIM 2024.5 allows you to copy the SeligSIM folder to any location on your computer, or even to a USB thumb drive, so you can use it on different computers. However, note that future updates and additional downloadable content (DLC) will only be applied to the simulator in the place where you first installed it. Any copies you make won't receive these updates or new content.
Where to Find It
You can download SeligSIM 2024.5 from the sim website:
https://www.seligsim.com/download.html
The previous version, SeligSIM 2024, is still available but won't receive updates. It will be removed from the online Dropbox folder in a couple of months or sooner.
New Aircraft in Development
I've been working on a couple of new airplanes. One is the Flyin’ King by Bruce Tharpe (BTE). The snapshots below show the detailed 3D model. The next steps will be to finish the graphics (“textures”) and then add the aerodynamics, etc.
About Selig’s Newsletter
Subscribers to this newsletter will be among the first to know when new airplanes and new features are planned and released for SeligSIM (FS One). I will also discuss some of the finer details that go into RC flight simulation, share tips and techniques for flying, and touch on aerodynamics and flight dynamics now and then. In addition to the usual coverage, keep an eye out for occasional thoughts and ideas on other related topics in RC modeling.
Thank you for your continued support of SeligSIM. Happy flying!
